Alientech DSG DQ381 GEN2 Support: Golf GTI/R, Octavia RS, Cupra

Alientech Adds DSG DQ381 GEN2 Support (Golf GTI/R, Octavia RS, Cupra & More)

Alientech has added KESS3 support for the Temic DQ381 GEN2 DSG gearbox, one of the most widely used dual-clutch transmissions across the Volkswagen Group. It covers a huge range of Audi, Cupra, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen models, including the performance favourites: Golf GTI, Golf R, Octavia RS and the Cupra/SEAT sport range.

What changed

Announced by Alientech on 10 July 2026 (KESS3 Protocol Release, Upgrade 3.33), the update adds OBD VR and BENCH connection options for the Temic DQ381 GEN2 TCU.

Key detail for workshops: both OBD VR and BENCH connection modes are supported, covering DQ381 GEN2 units fitted from 2012 onwards.

Which vehicles are covered

The DQ381 GEN2 gearbox is fitted across the VAG range, including:

  • Audi A1, A3, Q2, Q3, S3, S4, S5, SQ2, SQ5, TT, TTS
  • Cupra Ateca, Formentor, Leon
  • Seat Ateca, Ibiza, Leon, Tarraco
  • Skoda Karoq, Kodiaq, Octavia, Octavia RS, Superb
  • Volkswagen Arteon, Beetle, CC, Golf, Golf GTI, Golf R, Jetta, Passat, Polo, Scirocco, Tiguan, Touran, T-Roc, Vento

Why it matters here

DSG gearbox tuning is a big part of the VAG performance scene in Australia — Golf GTI/R and Octavia RS owners routinely pair an ECU remap with gearbox tuning for firmer, faster shifts and adjusted torque limiters. Broader DQ381 GEN2 coverage means more of the current-generation VAG hot-hatch and SUV range can now get both done through the one platform.
