Alientech has added KESS3 support for the Continental UTCU3 transmission control unit, covering a wide range of Ford, Lincoln and Volkswagen automatics — including the 10-speed 10R80 fitted to the Ford Ranger and Everest, two of the biggest tuning platforms on Australian roads.
What changed
Announced by Alientech on 15 July 2026 (KESS3 Protocol Release, Upgrade 3.34), the update introduces both OBD and BENCH connection modes for the Continental UTCU3 TCU, with OBD management also available through Powergate for remote work.
Key detail for workshops: dual OBD and BENCH connection options, covering FoMoCo 6F55, 8F24, 8F35, 8F40, 8F57, 10R60 and 10R80 automatic transmissions from 2017 on.
Which vehicles are covered
The Continental UTCU3 TCU is fitted to Ford, Lincoln and Volkswagen models from 2017 onwards, paired with:
- 1.5, 2.0, 2.3, 2.7, 3.0 and 3.5 EcoBoost petrol engines
- 1.5 and 2.0 EcoBlue diesel engines
- 5.0 Ti-VCT petrol engine
Why it matters here
The 10R80 10-speed automatic is fitted to the current Ford Ranger and Everest — among the highest-volume platforms tuned in Australia. TCU-level tuning (shift firmness, torque converter lockup behaviour) alongside an engine ECU remap gives workshops a more complete package for these vehicles, rather than just the engine side.
