This Course Is Built for People Already in the Trade

If you’re a mechanic who wants to offer something your competitors can’t, a workshop owner looking to open a new profit centre, or someone serious about making tuning their career — this is for you.

Mechanics

Add a high-value skill that sets you apart in the trade.

Workshop Owners

Bring tuning in-house and open a new profit centre.

Aspiring Tuners

Learn it right from the start — no bad habits, no guesswork.

You’ll get the most from this course if you:

  • Work in the automotive trade — mechanic, workshop owner, service tech
  • Have a genuine interest in diesel performance and tuning
  • Are ready to invest seriously in your skills and toolset
  • Want to learn from someone doing it at volume, not a classroom instructor

This course isn’t for:

  • Complete beginners with no automotive background
  • People looking for a quick certificate to put on a wall
  • Anyone not ready to put the work in after the three days

What You’ll Learn

Five core modules that take you from stock file to finished, dyno-proven tune — diesel-focused, with a brief touch on petrol.

MODULE 1

Tuning Tools & Reading/Writing ECUs

The tools of the trade — KESS3, K-TAG, MPPS and Autotuner — plus OBD, Bench and Boot protocols, and how to safely read, back up and write ECU files without risking the hardware or the vehicle.

MODULE 2

Building Stage 1 & 2 Tunes

Modify fuel, boost and torque limiters in ECM Titanium for safe, effective power gains — and validate with data logging (AFR, EGT, boost) so every tune holds up under real-world conditions.

MODULE 3

WinOLS — Copying Files Like a Pro

Map discovery, hex & decimal editing and Compare Mode — how to find what changed between files and copy modifications accurately every time. The skill that separates consistent tuners from people who guess.

MODULE 4

Mastering Emissions Solutions

Understand EGR, DPF and SCR systems properly — then source, analyse and copy proven emissions solutions across different files and software versions, cleanly and consistently.

MODULE 5

Practical Dyno Tuning

Bring everything together on the dyno — safe setup, baseline runs, incremental adjustments and reading the data to finalise a tune that’s powerful and reliable. You’ll run it yourself.

3 Days, Hands-On, In Person

This is a practical, in-person course — three full days in a working tuning shop, on real tools and real vehicles. You won’t just watch: you’ll read ECUs, build tunes and run the dyno yourself, with expert guidance at every step.

3 Full Days

Intensive, structured training that takes you from the tools to a finished dyno tune.

Hands-On, In Person

Learn by doing, side by side with an experienced tuner — not from a screen at home.

Maximum 6 People

Intentionally small — every participant gets real time with the instructor and hands-on time with the tools.

You’re Learning From a Workshop That Does This Every Day

This isn’t a training company. It’s a tuning operation — 12+ years in the trade, 15,000+ dyno-developed solutions, in-house dynos, and a WinOLS 5 licensed workflow. Everything taught in this course is live practice from real daily work.

The Course Is the Beginning

Completing this course gives you the technical foundation. What you do with it — building a business around tuning, finding customers, handling jobs outside your current capability — is a different challenge entirely.

Graduates of this course get access to ongoing support through TuneFiles — file service at trade rates, technical backup on real jobs, and a path to building tuning into a consistent part of how your business operates. We’ll talk about what that looks like on your discovery call.

Course FAQ

No. The course is built to take you from the fundamentals — tools and reading ECUs — right through to dyno-proven tunes. A mechanical background helps, but you don’t need any prior tuning experience.
The industry standards — KESS3, K-TAG, MPPS and Autotuner for reading/writing, ECM Titanium and WinOLS for building tunes, plus dyno and data-logging for validation.
The course is diesel-focused — that’s where the biggest, most consistent opportunity is for workshops in Australia — and it’s taught with diesel in mind throughout. The core skills carry across to petrol ECUs, but diesel is the primary focus.
No — over the three days you’ll work hands-on with our tools, equipment and dyno. We’ll help you choose the right gear to set yourself up afterwards, based on what you want to tune.
Maximum six. Intentionally small so every participant gets real time with the instructor and real hands-on time with the tools.
Graduates get access to ongoing file support through TuneFiles and the option to continue developing with the team. We’ll walk through what that looks like on your discovery call.
Book a discovery call below. We’ll find out where you’re at, what you want to build, and whether this course is the right next step — then walk you through everything from there.

Not Sure If This Is Right for You?
