Alientech has expanded KESS3’s Korean vehicle coverage with new protocols for Hyundai and Kia’s Kefico CPEGD3.20.1 and CPEGP3.20.2 ECUs — bringing OBD and BENCH support to a large slice of the current Hyundai/Kia petrol range, two of the highest-volume brands on Australian roads.
What changed
Announced by Alientech on 17 July 2026 (KESS3 Protocol Release, Upgrade 3.35), the update adds both OBD and BENCH connection modes for the Kefico CPEGD3.20.1 and CPEGP3.20.2 ECUs, without needing to open the ECU casing.
Key detail for workshops: both OBD and BENCH modes are supported with a direct connector connection, giving workshops flexibility on which method suits the job.
Which vehicles are covered
The release covers numerous Hyundai and Kia applications produced from 2020 to present, including sports variants, fitted with:
- 1.0 and 1.2 MPI petrol engines
- 1.0, 1.5 and 1.6 T-GDI petrol engines
Why it matters here
Hyundai and Kia are consistently among the top-selling brands in Australia, and the small-capacity turbo T-GDI engine family is common across their current SUV and hatch range. Broader Kefico protocol support means more of that range is now open to remapping through KESS3.
