Alientech has added KESS3 OBD support for the Continental GPEC4LM ECU, widening coverage across the latest Stellantis and former FCA range — Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Citroën, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep and Peugeot petrol and hybrid models.
What changed
Announced by Alientech (KESS3 Protocol Release, Upgrade 3.39), the update adds OBD support for the Continental GPEC4LM ECU, complementing the BOOT mode already available.
Key detail for workshops: reading and writing now works directly through the OBD diagnostic port, on top of the existing BOOT mode option — giving workshops flexibility on connection method, plus remote OBD management through Powergate.
Which vehicles are covered
The Continental GPEC4LM ECU is fitted across Stellantis and former FCA city cars, saloons and SUVs produced from 2016 to present, paired with:
- 1.0 and 1.3 FireFly petrol engines
- 1.5 48V Hybrid and 1.5 48V Hybrid VGT
- 3.6 V6 Pentastar
Brands involved: Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Citroën, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep and Peugeot.
Why it matters here
Jeep Compass, Alfa Romeo Tonale and the newer Peugeot/Citroën hybrid and turbo-petrol range are increasingly common on Australian roads, and OBD access on the GPEC4LM ECU means less bench time for a growing part of the Stellantis lineup — including hybrid variants, which are trickier to work on than a standard petrol ECU.
