Dimsport has added OBDII support for the Bosch MG1CS017 Gen2 ECU with TC298 microprocessor, opening up direct diagnostic-port tuning for the Ford 2.3L EcoBoost engine — the unit behind one of the most sought-after performance Fords, the Focus ST.
What changed
The new protocol allows reading and writing directly through the OBDII port, and is available on both Dimsport’s New Genius and The Genius tools, reducing the workshop intervention time normally needed for this ECU.
Key detail for workshops: full OBDII read/write on the Bosch MG1CS017 Gen2 (TC298), no bench work required, supported on both New Genius and The Genius.
Which vehicle is covered
The MG1CS017 Gen2 ECU is fitted to the Ford 2.3L EcoBoost engine, most notably the Ford Focus ST.
Why it matters here
The 2.3L EcoBoost is a genuinely popular performance-aftermarket engine, and OBDII access on this specific ECU generation removes a common sticking point for workshops wanting to remap the Focus ST without opening the unit up. It’s a straightforward, high-demand job made faster.
